Fiji - Paradise

So after a week of rest and relaxation it was time to leave Fiji and head back in time, honest, we crossed the date line and landed before we left! The resort had been great and the weather fabulous, the people friendly and the cocktails plentiful. Although everyone we met seemed to work on Fiji time, it was not the case at the airport. Being back in the real world came as a shock to both of us. We had to endure the additional security checks as we were flying into the US, although time consuming, it was a relatively painless experience and the Fiji officers conducting the searches were very friendly.

The flight to LA was 12 hours, I managed to sleep for about 9/10 hours, indeed, I didn't even hear dinner being served or hear Dean order my dinner after finishing his own! The Air Pacific staff were super friendly, although not the most comfortable seats (1st place still goes to BA), this was the most friendly flight and they did have the best snacks, a bit like Quavers. Arrival in LA proved much smoother than we had anticipated, we passed through customs and immigration without any problems, all the officers were friendly, we identified our cases and they were checked back in for the flight to San Fran. We then had to go back through security to the lounge to wait for the next flight. This is were things got a bit frantic, indeed, while we were at the security check, there was a scare and they locked everything in the area down, we had to stand still, like statues. After a few whoops and high fives, the situation was over and we could proceed.

Annoyingly, our flight was delayed, but eventually we arrived in San Fran were it was cold and windy - a long cry from the sunny days by the pool in Fiji.
